Bird Sightings
Bird Sightings is part of East Coast Flyway Station, a new participatory project in the Power House that is being developed by artists Jane Watt and SE Barnet in collaboration and partnership with the National Trust and University of Suffolk. Visitors to the Power House will see a growing dataset of the weekly bird sightings that have been made by the Orford Ness team across the Nature Reserve during the 2026 season. As the weeks progress the bird sighting boards become more populated.
Orford Ness is an important location on the East Coast Flyway which is globally significant for migratory waterbirds and for its nearby complex of ecologically connected and immensely variable coastal wetlands.
Over the next two years the art project will integrate bird sighting and migratory data collected by the artists, National Trust Orford Ness team and volunteers, students and visitors into an evolving installation in the Power House.
